NEW ENGLAND HEALTHCARE INTERNAL AUDITORS, INC.
Brief History
In the 80's (circa 1985), a band of auditors came together to form one of the first healthcare specific internal auditing organizations in the United States. The purpose of the organization was simple - to provide the very best in healthcare internal auditing education at a reasonable cost. Moss Granfield (current co-president) was involved as a founding father. Other organizational pioneer included Bob McDonald of New England Memorial Hospital, George Kuselias of Baystate Medical Center and Ken Spence of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. NEHIA was a success from the start by providing low-cost education specific to healthcare auditing at a conference in the spring and fall of each year.
Besides knowledge-exchange presentations, the conferences included occasions to network. The early social events were held in a hotel hospitality room with self-serve beverages and snacks. In the 90’s, conference attendees were bussed to
